Just a list of some of my favorite coffee shops from around the world
drip bar COFFEE AND CRAFTS
Ebisu, Tokyo https://goo.gl/maps/tj8pdcaJUeumCa8H7
Coffee ogiisan who micro-roasts his own coffees. His menu is simple, presented on a roasting scale of 1-7 based on darkness. The number 3/4 basically always does it for me and this my favorite coffee shop in Tokyo.
Other coffee shops of note: Nozy Roastery, Koffee Mameya
Kaffi Ó-le
Reykjavik, Iceland https://goo.gl/maps/GPcaLWAgShzxhFFX6
This coffee shop only opened recently (2021), but IMO the quality of the batch brew actually manages to beat the pants off of the previous best Icelandic (drip) coffee, Rykjavik Roasters. Anyway, there are actually pretty slim pickings for specialty coffee in Iceland, so I’m fairly confident that this makes Kaffi Ó-le the best coffee in Iceland.
LOT61 Coffee Roasters
Amsterdam, Netherlands https://goo.gl/maps/3u29nZF6xfttXNfM7
I haven’t tried all the top shops in Amsterdam, but of the ones I did, LOT61 was my favorite. Maybe unfair since they were serving an extremely tasty natural geisha bean at the time…
Terres de Café
Paris, France https://goo.gl/maps/mpTEieKZ1ENvrz277
This was the closest good coffee shop to where I was staying in Paris, and I guess I lucked out, since this shop (chain) is serious about their beans - I had their competition roast Nestor Lasso Sidra and it was amazing. Très bien.
Starbucks Reserve: Seattle Roastery
Seattle, US https://goo.gl/maps/TxghC3tNSqwnFYpE9
It’s easy to dismiss Starbucks since their regular coffee is awful, but the quality of Starbucks Reserve’s that I have been to are typically pretty high, and the Seattle Roastery is actually top-notch. A great selection of beans and baristas who know their stuff. If you ever see them offering a Columbia Cerro Azul Geisha, you should grab some. The one I had in 2020 is easily in my top-5 cups.
In Japan, the Starbucks Roastery is in Nakameguro.
