4 DIMMs

2DPC = 2 DIMM Per Channel 2R = Dual Rank (most bigger RAM sticks like 48GB DDR5 will be dual rank, almost like adding another channel to drive)

You can use CUDIMM w/ certain 870 motherboards which would make life easier: https://videocardz.com/newz/msi-confirms-cu-dimm-ddr5-memory-support-for-ryzen-9000-and-8000-series

https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/151gw88/comment/js9kunx/ Loosening primaries are usually not what gets you success with 4 DIMMs, although it can help if your IMC is truly awful.

It’s mainly about correctly setting vSoC and CLDO VDDP IOD, and then dialing in tWRRD, RTT’s ProcODT, and ClkDrvStr’s. ProcODT, RTT’s and ClkDrvStr’s also vary per motherboard and DRAM IC’s, so some trial and error may be required.

tWRRD is the most important timing when running 4 DIMMs, and it’s also very often the timing that sabotages people trying to run 4 DIMMs with Ryzen as most boards do not automatically raise tWRRD when populating all slots and enabling XMP. 3600MT/s w/ 4 DIMMs means tWRRD needs to be at 3 at the minimum, and with higher capacity DIMMs you may need to increase it further to 8.

Also, raising tWRRD too much destroys read/write throughput, so it’s usually a balancing act between tighter tWRRD and max IMC frequency, loosening tWRRD to raise DRAM/FCLK frequency further isn’t always the best move. https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/wlei2o/comment/ijxo5aa/ https://www.reddit.com/r/Amd/comments/imi3h9/comment/g40d4lt/
