I am currently using GNOME Wayland (after years of using a very simple OpenBox setup) and not having a great time with minimal/tiling managers like Sway, Hyperland, etc.
GNOME can work well, with enough Tweaks!
Extensions
AltTab Mod
https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/4007/alttab-mod/ The biggest issue I’ve had is with window switching. But it can be customized to your liking.
- I like the ability to switch the Window Ring (Alt-Tab) and App (Super-Tab) and Windows within in an App (Alt-`)
- However, if you switch via the App grouping, it raises all the Windows and blowas away your Alt-Tab order!
AppSwitcher: Raise First Instance Onlyfixes this! Window Switcher: Focus window on selectfocuses your window (without switching the MRU order unless you let go) - this is a matter of taste and I’m not quite sure I’m in love with it, but the utility can’t be denied - it lets you see what you would be switching to, useful if you’re hunting…
Just Perfection

Thi sis a “do everything” style tweak tool. I have two things I use it for:
Behavior > Startup Status- I set this toDesktopso that I just get my desktop when launchingCustomize > Animation- I set the animation toAlmost None(maybe I’ll turn it off for snappiness)
